As part of your projects you might consider capturing new data about your life or exploring data that exists about you. Below are some tools and trackers to think about.

I recommend first taking a look at the excellent list of tools curated by Quantified Self: http://quantifiedself.com/guide/ or this repo of self-tracking tools https://github.com/woop/awesome-quantified-self

Data Logging

Two helpful tools for data logging for personal digital memories are:

  1. http://www.reporter-app.com/ - allows you to set up self-tracking surveys that will periodically sample you throughout the day. Developed by Nick Felton. Easy export to CSV and Dropbox too.
  2. https://momentoapp.com - a journaling tool to gather, capture and share moments from your life

Sous-veillance

  1. Wearable Camera like the Google Clips, a Go Pro, or DIY your own with this Adafruit guide
  2. FitBit or RunKeeper are great resources for logging physical activity.

Data Scraping

The social tools you’re already actively using are great resources for these projects. Almost all of them allow you to easily export your data too

  1. Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/help/131112897028467
  2. Twitter https://help.twitter.com/en/managing-your-account/how-to-download-your-twitter-archive
  3. Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/download/request/

Of course there’s also code-based toolkits that’ll allow you grab you own data from the web too. For example:

Data Reflections
